Finding Light in Darkness as a Healing Mindful Momma
Motherhood is a journey filled with incredible love, joy, and indescribable moments of happiness. However, it's also a journey that presents its own set of challenges. Sometimes, as mothers, we find ourselves in the darkness, grappling with our own struggles and facing the difficult task of healing and finding the light once more.
Let’s explore the powerful narrative of (my) as well as other mother's journey of healing, resilience, and my unyielding determination to fight for the light.
The Darkness in Motherhood
Motherhood is often portrayed as a time of bliss and fulfillment, but it can be accompanied by feelings of exhaustion, doubt, and self-neglect. As a mom, you may have faced physical and emotional challenges, dealt with the chaos of parenting, or experienced postpartum depression. The darkness can manifest in various forms (stress, lashing out, depression, lack of sleep, loss of appetite, etc.) that’s why it's essential to acknowledge that it's normal to feel this way. Motherhood is challenging and that is okay.
Healing Begins with Self-Acceptance
The journey toward healing starts with self-acceptance. It's crucial to recognize and embrace your feelings and struggles. As a mom, you might feel like you have to be strong and put together all the time, but it's important to acknowledge that vulnerability is a part of the human experience.
Seeking Support
In the darkest moments, asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Reach out to friends, family, or support groups. Sharing your experiences and receiving support can be incredibly healing. As someone who was raised by a narcissist it is so challenging for me to ask for help. I’ve had to slowly learn that it is OKAY TO ASK FOR HELP!
Self-Care
Amidst the chaos of motherhood, self-care is a lifeline. Even small moments of self-indulgence can make a big difference. Whether it's a warm bath, a few minutes of meditation, or reading a book, prioritize self-care as an essential part of your daily routine.
Finding the Light
Healing involves actively seeking the light, even in the midst of darkness. Here are some ways to do that:
Gratitude Practice: Start or end your day by listing things you're grateful for. This simple act can shift your focus from the darkness to the light in your life.
Mindfulness and Meditation: Incorporate mindfulness and meditation into your daily routine. These practices help you stay present, reduce stress, and find inner peace.
Creativity and Passion: Reconnect with your creative interests and passions. These can be a source of joy and fulfillment, helping you navigate the challenges of motherhood.
Journaling: Writing down your thoughts and feelings can be a cathartic and healing process. Use a journal to reflect on your journey and track your progress.
Professional Help: If you're struggling with severe emotional or mental health issues, seeking the guidance of a therapist or counselor can be a vital step in your healing journey.
As a mother, your journey is a profound and transformative one. It's okay to acknowledge the darkness and the struggles you face. Healing is a process that takes time and self-compassion. In your quest for the light, remember that you have the strength and resilience to find it.
Your story is one of love, determination, and hope, and your journey can inspire others to heal and fight for the light in their own darkness. I’ve found that sharing my story has helped me in my journey and also helped other Mommas in theirs!
You are not alone, and together, we can find the beauty and strength in motherhood's challenges.
